Being productive on the move is vital for any realtor. These days, you’ll be expected to give clients information on the local neighborhood, offer documents for signing, and collaborate with colleagues—all outside the office. To do this, smartphones have become an ubiquitous tool for working as a realtor.
To accomplish this, very popular are industry-specific apps like zipForms or DotLoop. These provide critical functions, like the ability to make offers and sign documents on the go. However, sometimes these tools don’t provide just what you’re after. Other times, you want a more universal tool that is not industry-specific. Here are five additional free tools to consider, and the unique functionality they provide.
You want the ability to view and sign documents from anywhere, regardless of whether you have the paper contract in hand. It’s a great service to offer clients, and removes any objections caused by having to delay and return to your office.
This software is standard in many of the all-in-one solutions, but it is of critical importance. If you don’t use those products, you still need this. Of the standalone software, the market leader is DocuSign: https://www.docusign.com.au/features-and-benefits/mobile. Clients can even download their own free version to access additional features like notifications of documents needing their attention.
If you’re using an Android mobile, you can’t go past Chrome Remote Desktop. This lets you securely access your office desktop computer, from wherever you area. Not only will you be able to access every file you have, but you’ll also be able to perfectly sync all your computers—no transferring files back and forth via tiny USBs or email.
You can get it here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.chromeremotedesktop
If you have an iPhone, Screens is the remote desktop software to use. It’s not free, but $19 is almost free. You can get it here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/screens-vnc-access-your-computer/id655890150?mt=8&ign-mpt=uo%3D8
Maybe you don’t want to set up a remote desktop link, and want to transfer files the old fashioned way. That’s still no reason for relying on loose disks or emails. With Dropbox you can easily sync files across different computers by dragging files into a Dropbox folder on any computer. When you go to view that folder on another computer, your files will be right where you left them.
The benefit to Dropbox over a remote desktop is that you can make particular files available to everyone. Simply set the file to be available, and send them the download link. This allows you to quickly share large files without having to email them back and forth.
Dropbox offers both free and paid versions, and can be found at https://www.dropbox.com/en/.
A little like DropBox but with extra organizational features, Evernote lets you transfer documents between mobiles and desktops, but also lets you easily save clippings from websites and emails, annotate PDFs and more. If you come across a great website or listing, you can take a clipping of it and view it on any computer you have.
Evernote also lets you share your work and collaborate with others on the Evernote network, whether they’re colleagues or clients. When you need to be working on an important document side-by-side, Evernote is one of the best apps you can have.
Evernote starts free, and adds more features for paying members. You can find it at https://evernote.com.
One of the major differences between superstar realtors and those who are mere average is that the superstars spend their time doing high-value work. It’s a cliché, but it really is true that if you spend your morning working leads, you’ll build a strong business. Conversely, if you fritter your time away avoiding the real work that needs doing, you’ll go nowhere.
